Father/Husband/Servant/Guide

Today is my Dad's birthday. 54! which is cool, that was his number when he played football. He likes to brag about his high school days where he played on a state championship team and was captain of his wrestling team. He then went to college where he met my mom, his wife, and they lived happily ever after.:)  Posted by Picasa

In wake of the upcoming hurricane I thought I would post something. I know that I'm a brilliant linguistic and people need to hear from me to survive so it's time for me to come out and save the world. Kidding. Only God can save. I went to Chili's twice this week. Two different Chili's. School has been pretty productive this week. THere's been some days this year that I don't think I came home with a grain of experience or advice that would help me. On Monday I set a goal for teaching to focus on keeping the students attention and letting them guide me through work. Limiting my expecations really helped. The good teachers are really dedicated and continue to perfect what they do. The funniest moment of my week was one of my students talking to me on the way to lunch and asking me why backs are like solar panels for heat. I deferred to the Science teacher. Another interesting part of my week was the fortune cookie. On Monday I had a fortune cookie in my bag. On it was the same message I had gotten weeks earlier from a different chinese resturaunt. This might be a distraction, so I don't want to pay too much attention to it, but it is kind of strange. "When in doubt, trust your instincts" I have it tacked to my wall, I think it's getting out of hand. ohh, I also got my name tag this week...Very Exciting!... Has anyone ever analyed the lyrics to Yellow Submarine, are they meant to be? Yea, Strange lyrics. I like storms, I have to admit I'm looking forward to what it will do. Ok..I've blogged, maybe this will get me more into it later on.  Posted by Picasa

Adventure Day

Our first adventure together, coming to an expensive end... The title adventure day was tagged for the day at some point. Doing so gave me the right to take pictures of Monica and hopefully post them..yikes, maybe I should ask...nah. I'm trying to think of why the day was an adventure. Looking at the picture we definetly both have adventuresome looks on our faces. It was a fun Monday, yall missed out. On purpose. Ha
We had a lot of fun. We found out Fort Worth is home of a dinosaur museum, some really nasty driveways with big bumps, a Barnes and Noble, and circles, lots of circles, or maybe that was my driving.
This is probably the least happy looking picture we have but its one of my faves...is that bad?
Monica's working for Dr.K now. That man has changed my life...or at least my teeth. You should get one of my before/after clips from him, its a "wow!" experience. M says she gets to hold suction straws now, the next thing you know she will be pulling out that scary scraping instument, I hate that thing. DO yall know the one I mean? I hate that thing...
The rest of my week was cool. Lots of teaching, conduct marks, and tiredom. I came home and immediately went to bed on Tuesday. We had this sub come in which meant I was in charge, I guess the extra responsiblilty wore me out. I'm also reading a book to the class. I've never done that before and trying to live up to Mrs. Vandermiller's theatrical background is kind of intimidating. If people are dying to know what was taught this week,we covered negative integers, and converting decimals, percents, and fractions. On Friday we took a diagnostic test. WE had 2 100's out of 110 kids. Yess, 110 kids, this is my profect for time being, learning names. I have about 50 down so far.
